The History Of SportPower International

Bill Alexson is the Founder and President of SportsPower International, a non profit organization that utilizes the powerful platform of NBA players and other professional athletes to influence youth in a positive way. At all SportsPower events, selected players share their personal stories of how they handled adversity as well as success.  The players encourage youth to make right choices in life while bringing a message of hope to sports fans in the United States and around the world. His father, Andrew "Doc Alexson", played baseball for the Brooklyn Dodgers.

Bill played pro basketball in Greece for two years. He is the Founder of the Players' Chapel program to the NBA and was Chaplain to the Boston Celtics players for over 20 years. Bill is currently the Chaplain for the "Big 3" NBA retired players league which was highly successful in it's inaugural season and was televised into 25 countries. SportsPower recently conducted 122 school assemblies in Baltimore City presenting an anti drug, anti violence, and anti bullying message. It was followed by a big game at Coppin State University where 3000 people watched an exciting game and heard NBA players speak. Commendation letters were given by the Governor's office, Mayor's office, and the Police Commissioner as a result of it's tremendous success. The NBA has unprecedented popularity globally, Bill has taken his SportsPower team to over 42 international cities in 16 countries. He plans to expand his vision to go across the world on a regular basis over the next five years. Bill has authored four pro athlete testimonial books with Thomas Nelson Publishers. He has been married for 38 years to his wife Valerie and lives in Baltimore MD. They have one married son.
